WEINIG Profimat 23E – Four-sided planer and moulder

The WEINIG Profimat 23E is a four-sided planer and moulder for multi-sided solid wood machining. It combines surfacing, edge jointing, planing and profiling in a throughfeed process. Applications include furniture components, window and door components, mouldings and frames.

The machine handles working widths of 20–230 mm and working heights of 8–120 mm, both based on a tool cutting circle diameter of 125 mm. Four to six spindles and different spindle arrangements allow adaptation to the machining task.

Machining and Machine Configuration

A heavy cast iron frame supports the spindles and feed elements. A chainless cardan drive and pneumatically loaded feed rollers transport the workpiece. Driven rollers in the outfeed table assist discharge. Pressure elements opposite the right-hand spindle and guide fences adjust with the left-hand spindle.

The spindles are axially adjustable. Mechanical digital indicators assist setting, and the operating controls are arranged at one height. The documented construction includes a 2 m infeed surfacing table, a hardened table plate ahead of the first bottom spindle, powered feed beam height adjustment and a full sound-reducing safety enclosure.

Working dimensions apply at a tool cutting circle diameter of 125 mm. The technical overview gives the vertical spindle tool cutting circle as “100–200/180 mm” without explaining the allocation of the two upper limits. The permitted tool diameter must therefore be checked for the specific spindle configuration. The other horizontal spindles must be distinguished from the separate specification for the first bottom spindle.

Special equipment and model variants

Spindle arrangements: Documented sequences are bottom–right–left–top and bottom–right–left–top–bottom. Both are also illustrated with an additional final universal spindle.
Left-hand mobile spindle: Stock of varying width is measured electronically. The amount of material removed can be programmed, and the spindle automatically adapts to the workpiece width. Adjustment to fixed dimensions is also described.
Setting aids: DigiSet enables tool positioning for the left-hand and top spindles using dual digital indicators. The Profimat 23E is prepared for the CAS-LogoPac computer-assisted machine setup system; ATS is also listed as an equipment option.
Further equipment: Listed features include groove guidance, a glazing bead saw, an air cushion in the machine table, a chamfering unit, increased motor output up to 11 kW, and versions with a working width of 260 mm and working height of 160 mm. These additions are not fitted to every machine.

Application and classification
