WEINIG 500 – Planer cutterhead for woodworking
The WEINIG 500 is a four-knife planer cutterhead for machining wood with mechanical feed. Its high-strength steel body carries four straight planer knives. A choice of working widths and mounting bores allows the tool to be matched to the machining task and machine spindle.
Machining and Machine Configuration
The knives are secured by pressure clamping wedges and supported by springs. Hardened wedges with ground clamping surfaces hold the knives in the tool body. The rake angle is 27°. The cutterhead is documented for mechanical feed at a maximum speed of 9,000 rpm.

Application and classification
The WEINIG 500 is a planing tool for machines with mechanical feed. Selection depends on working width, spindle mounting and knife material. Types 501, 502, 503 and 504 are separate tool types and are not covered by this description. The information reflects the historical documentation; the configuration of each individual tool must be checked.
