FORMAT-4 plan 51 – Surface planer
The FORMAT-4 plan 51 is a surface planer for flattening timber faces and jointing workpiece edges. Its 510 mm planing width and combined table length of 2,250 mm provide support for boards, planks and other solid wood components. The tilting fence enables square and bevelled edges.
Machining and Machine Configuration
The heavy surface planing tables are made of cast iron and adjusted on prism guides. The infeed table allows stepless adjustment of the depth of cut up to 8 mm from the operator's side. A magnifying lens helps with reading the scale.
The fence tilts continuously from 90° to 45°, with end stops at both positions. Its compact design facilitates installation close to a wall. The standard system cutterblock uses four self-setting, double-edged disposable knives. An extraction hood directs chips towards the dust extraction connection.

Application and classification
The plan 51 produces flat reference faces and jointed edges before further machining in furniture and interior joinery production. These specifications refer to the historical version with system, conventional or TERSA knives. Equipment and electrical connection details should be checked on the individual machine.
