HAPFO AP-5000-M – Wood-copying lathe
The HAPFO AP-5000-M is a wood-copying lathe for turning and reproducing profiled wooden workpieces. The contour is traced from a template or an original workpiece. Typical applications include turned spindles, furniture components and decorative wooden profiles.
The standard version has a distance between centres of 1,300 mm and a copying length of 1,150 mm. The copying diameter is 260 mm longitudinally and 500 mm transversely. The machine also allows hand turning. Both manual-feed and motorised-feed versions are documented.
Machining and Machine Configuration
The machine has a grey cast iron construction. A downward-working tool guide allows the use of two copying tools. Workpiece contours can be reproduced from workshop-made profile templates or an original workpiece.
Depending on the equipment, workpieces are supported by a ring follower rest with a roughing tool or an infinitely adjustable four-jaw follower rest with a self-centring insert. The ring follower rest with roughing tool allows timber blanks to be machined without first planing their edges.
The hollow spindle runs in two precision bearings and has a 15 mm bore. Speeds are selected using a four-step pulley and motor pole switching. An optical speed indicator assists setup. The grey cast iron tailstock has eccentric clamping.

The distance between centres and copying length can be increased with extensions. The voltage is taken from the historical brochure; the nameplate specifications apply to an individual machine.
Application and classification
The AP-5000-M is suitable for repeatedly producing wooden turnings with matching profiles from a template or original. Motorised feed and the twist attachment extend its capabilities but are not necessarily fitted to every machine. The actual follower rests, feed equipment and accessories determine the capabilities of an individual machine.
